What’s In My Bag: The Mini Bag Purse Essentials

By September 12, 2017 No Comments

My Purse Essentials are a list of things I’ve gone back to time and time again.

The other day, I was stopped by my youngest sister who asked me what I carry around in my seemingly “bottomless” purses. I had pulled out a series of things that was needed within a very short time-span. All of this out of a very small bag. So, I went through and showed her what kind of things I carry around, how I do it, and why. I figured I should write a post about imy personal/current “purse essentials and share it with you lovelies, too.

I am usually out with a very small bag. The contents are always changing but there are a few things that I always have in there. I’ll call this set up: The Quick Mini.

Mini Bags are Cute, but NOT Functional

That’s what my Mom always said. She would say that she loves the look of them and the size, but they don’t hold enough for her. I love them. They’re not as costly for me as larger handbags, so I usually grab them. Also, I have an infatuation with small things. I do not yet have children- so I’m sure all of this changes based on your current needs. These micro bags or handbags I wear usually when I have to suddenly up and leave.

The Mini Bag

Here are two of my little bags. I carry around the Betsy Johnson “Love Betsy” Mini Satchel the most. They’re pretty small- they hold more than a clutch though (I’ll show you how to pack larger and smaller bags in the future). I switch up these bags frequently, so knowing what I absolutely need on a quick run out the house, is important. It allows me to switch bags swiftly.

The List

Here are all of the items that were in my bag when I dumped it out this morning. I have somethings in here that I don’t even use all of the time, and others that I have to use 24/7.

  1. Earbuds//Headphones
  2. Wallet
  3. Mini Black Ink Pen
  4. Keys
  5. Pocket Knife
  6. Tarte Mini Matte Nude Lipstick – Birthday Suit
  7. Make Up Pencil (Eyes & Lips — I just thought of a certain song…)
  8. Clear Lip Gloss
  9. Compact Blush Palette (This came with the mini lipstick~ Hooray for coordination!)
  10. Compact Mirror
  11. Hair Tie
  12. Not in the photo, but I also carry my phone (Lol!)

Your Wallet

I probably shouldn’t even put this on this list. It’s something that we should all always keep on our person somewhere. However, I will list it because, there are many different kinds of wallets- yours might be very different from mine. I love this one in particular because it holds a nice amount, and it matches my bag~!

Make Up

Make up, is less of an essential, but if you’ve already put some on before you left the house, you might want to carry the basics. Here you see a mini blush pallet, a matte nude lip, a makeup pencil (eyes, lips, & brows) and a clear gloss. I usually like to keep a lip balm, but I am all out. Oddly enough, blush is not a “purse essential” unless of course I’m wearing blush that day. Also, This being my “Quick Mini” set up, it’s important to note that it’s been cut down A LOT. You’ll be able to see my full get up (Ultimate Purse Essentials) on a Friday at the end of this series.

As I was saying, the most important elements are the mirror, and the hair tie. I don’t always need a hair tie, when I’m out- but do you know how many times a friend, sister, or my mother has needed this? They always come in handy, and you never know when you’ll be needing them. Therefore, it’s a purse essential

Compact mirrors are excellent gifts and true purse essentials. I use it almost everyday and I’ve had to lend it to another more times than I can count.

Keys, Knife, & Headphones

The keys are a staple in every purse/pocket. You know that. The knife however, is a more debatable item. I know in some states in the US, pocket knives are illegal. This is nutty to me, but I don’t live there so I don’t mind. My knife has never been used in self defense/knife defense, so I’m not sure how it would hold up in a tussle ( I hope to never find out!) However, it has helped me with a plethora of things when scissors were needed and nowhere to be found. I hope to get and even smaller one.

Headphones are a MUST. They ARE a purse essential in my book. You have no idea how many times I’ve been out, and needed to save myself from the horrid tunes playing over the store loud speaker. Or, how many times I’ve had to save fellow shoppers from personal phone calls. If I keep these on me, I’m more likely to remain a happy princess in public.

That’s it. That’s all I need when a quick run to the store is needed. Next I’ll show you guys my step up, from The Quick Mini; The Main Mini. This is more prepared and placed and has just a tad bit more.

How about you- Do you prefer larger bags or smaller ones? Do you have a set list of items that you must carry? What are you purse essentials? Let me know in the comments!

Until Next Time~
